As we stated before, there’s so many different types of cranberries! This can lead to confusion as there is not a lot of discussion as to whether hamsters can eat some of the other cranberry products that exist. This guide will now take you through some of the most popular cranberry products to see if we can give them to our pets.
We don’t recommend giving your hamster Cranberry Jam. This is because of the high sugar content, as Jam often contains a lot more sugar than the raw product. Jam also removes a lot of the vital nutrients and vitamins that are contained within cranberries. Cranberry jam can lead to obesity and diabetes in all types of hamsters. Stick to other products!
We never recommend giving your hamster juice of any form. This is because juice removes many of the vital vitamins and nutrients that are contained within the fruit. Added sugars are often added as well, this can lead to a whole host of issues for your hamster. It doesn’t matter what type of juice it is, hamsters should never drink cranberry juice!
Dried cranberries are fine for your hamster, just make sure that they are organic. Many processed food contain extra added chemicals and sugar which can hurt your hamster. You can dry cranberries yourself to ensure that they are 100% organic!
Cranberry sauce is often eaten with our Christmas dinners, but can hamsters partake in this as well? The answer is no, sadly. Cranberry sauce suffers the same issues as Cranberry Jam, many of the core nutrients are removed and extra sugar is often added. Stick to dried and fresh cranberries, they are the best for your hamster!
