Spending every summer watching Wimbledon whilst eating some of these delicious fruits (with cream) is always an enjoyable experience. Robos are smaller than Syrians and this naturally means that they have to have a smaller amount of strawberry! This is due to the high levels of sugar that are contained within this fruit. Give your Robo hamster a paw sized piece of strawberry once a week. Any more than that and you are risking lots of side effects for your hamster!
How many Strawberries should a Dwarf hamster eat?
As stated before, Dwarf hamsters should not be given strawberries! This is due to the high sugar content. The safe amount of strawberry that you could give your hamster is so small that there is really no point in giving your dwarf hamster any of it at all. Try other snacks such as almonds and cabbage!

- Strawberries contain a lot of Vitamin C. This is one of the most vital vitamins for your hamster and it improves their immune system
- Strawberries contain magnesium! This protects your hamster’s bones and protects them from breaking if they have a fall!
- Strawberries contain plenty of antioxidants. These protect against the effects of ageing, such as cancer.
- Strawberries contain potassium. This protects the kidneys, muscle and digestive system.
Risks of Strawberries
Whilst strawberries do have a lot of benefits; you must remember that there are some risks for your hamster. This is especially true if your hamster eats too many strawberries
- Strawberries contain a high amount of sugar. Sugar can be dangerous in high quantities for your hamster and can easily cause them to develop diabetes and become obese.
- Strawberries can be a choking hazard. Make sure that you give your hamster small pieces of strawberry.
- Strawberries can go off extremely quickly. Ensure that uneaten strawberry is removed from your hamster’s cage
- Too much strawberry can hurt your hamster’s digestive system and cause diarrhoea.

Can Hamsters eat Strawberry Tops?
Can hamsters eat the entire of a strawberry, can they eat strawberry tops? This will be a common question as you are preparing some strawberry for your adorable ham. The good news is that, yes, hamsters can eat them! Just make sure that you wash them!
Can Hamsters eat Dried Strawberry?
Yes! Just give your hamster the same amount of dried strawberry as we state in the article and remember the risks behind sugar!
Can Hamsters eat Strawberry Jam?
Hamsters cannot eat strawberry jam. It is simply too sweet for them, jam contains a lot of sugar and this can hurt your hamster and heighten the risk of them developing diabetes. Keep the jam away from your hamster!
Can Hamsters eat Strawberry Yogurt?
We don’t recommend it. Strawberry yoghurt contains too much sugar for your hamster. Natural and unflavoured yoghurt is different but strawberry yoghurt simply has too much sugar!
